I spent a day resting in Inverness and preparing for the next two days when I would be off road. The Inverness Backpackers was a great place to relax and I met some very nice travelers from all over the world.

One of the things I really needed to do was go to the train station to print out my tickets from Wick to Edinburgh. I had bought them online while in Pitlochry, but the train station was closed so I couldn’t redeem the paper tickets. I found out that the train station at Wick is mostly unmanned and there isn’t a machine to print out the tickets, so I had to get them printed in Inverness because that is the only place I was passing through that had a machine or an office. I’m not sure why you have to have physical tickets, but you do!

I ended up spending most of the day with a traveller from Broome, Australia who had just finished cycling the Hebridean Way. We explored the city, went to the Coop to buy food for the next day, took a young German lady (can’t remember her name 😫) to the pub because she wanted to taste whisky, and had a fabulous Indian meal in the evening. It was a nice relaxing day.

The young bartender was delightful and entertained us while we sipped on our whisky. The German lady’s whisky was ‘on the house’ because it was her first time tasting whisky.

Cheers!

Caroll looks highly suspicious of that whiskey. Did she like it?
